Initial Thoughts — Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10E

The long awaited Samsung Galaxy 10th Anniversary lineup is finally here. Alongside an S10+ and S10E. We even got a glimpse of a very expensive, foldable model; the Galaxy Fold — Coming later in April.

These phones were everything the rumors said they’ll be. Features like an All-Screen Infinity-O display with a Punch-out camera, In-Screen Ultrasonic Fingerprint reader, and Reverse Wireless Charging.

Galaxy S10 & S10+

The Galaxy S10 starts at $899 (315,000NGN). While the plus model starts at $999 (360,000NGN) — Similar to Apple’s last-year pricing.

They both rock a Super AMOLED 3,040 X 1,440p display. 6.1″ on the regular S10 and 6.4″ on the plus model. Samsung finally did away with any form of bezels and placed the camera(s) in a tiny punched-out portion on the top-right side. Thoughts about that? The S10 and S10+ both have a triple camera setup on the back. And the S10+ adds another lens to the front camera — that’s capable of shooting in 4K by the way. And all that’s powered by a 3,400 and 4,000mAh battery respectively.

They are offering a free wireless earphone; The newly announced Galaxy Buds — to anyone who Preorders the S10 or S10+ up till 7th March when it starts shipping.

Galaxy S10e

The S10E is a more affordable version of the Galaxy S10. There’s a drop in resolution (2,280 X 1,080) and a capacitive fingerprint reader rather than an In-Screen Ultrasonic one.

There’s a smaller battery (3,150mAh) and one less camera on each side. That’s one front shooter and a dual-setup out back. Yet it still goes for $750 (270,000NGN). Again, matching the price of Apple’s last year’s releases.
