Infinix Hot 6X Full Review

Infinix officially joined the Notch camera cut-out gang when they released the Hot S3X earlier. Their next releases — The Hot 6 and Hot 6Pro — however, took a different approach to modern display. Slimming the bezels and edges to the barest minimun like Samsung does. I definitely preferred that as I’m not a big fan of the notch. Their latest Infinix Hot 6X however, saw the return of said Notch. Actually, this Smartphone looks and handles quite similarly to the previous Hot S3X.

Build and Display

The Infonix Hot 6X has the exact dimensions of the Hot S3X at 157 x 74 x 8 mm. Also the same plastic build with a matte finish.

And it features a new all-screen(ish) 6.2 inch HD+ Display. (720 x 1500). You still can’t miss that bottom chin—it seriously needs slimming. Notwithstanding, the Hot 6X achieves an 82.2% Screen-to-body ratio. The Pixel Density is at an above average 268 PPI.

Internals

One thing I love about Infinix is their adoption of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, albeit mediocre ones. However, this still places them ahead of the Mediatek-class competition.

On the Infinix Hot 6x you’ll see a MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 (28nm) CPU — A Quad-core 1.4 Ghz Cortex-A53. And an Adreno 308 to handle Graphics. Alongside 3gb of RAM, your day to day tasks should be quite smooth. There’s two Storage options. A 16gb paired with 2gb of RAM or a 32gb paired with 3gb RAM. Although you can always expand the Storage, I’d highly Recommend the latter. At least for the 3gb of RAM.

Camera

There’s a good enough Dual Camera setup out back. But just a Single 8MP lens on the front. Nonetheless, it doesn’t miss out on a flash, AI features and Face ID support.

On the back there’s a 13MP main +2MP Depth Sensor — To enable Portrait mode. And that’s in addition to Standard features like Dual-LED flash, Panorama and HDR. Also, you can shoot 1080p video @ 30fps on the main camera(s). No Optical Image Stabilization here.

Everything Else

The Hot 6X comes in lots of Colors to choose from. Including Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, Kent Blue and Bordeaux Red. And to power all of this is a non-removable Li-Po 4000mAh battery. The Infinix Hot 6X comes with the Latest Android 8.1 alongside Infinix’s XOS 3.3 (Beware the Bloatware).

On the ports side it’s still just a regular old microUSB 2.0 port — At least with OTG support. There’s a (nano) Dual Sim slot with 4G (LTE) support on both.

Version/img

The Hot 6x is priced at 44,000NGN for the 16/2gb or 50,500NGN for the 32/3gb version. While it’s features are not reason enough to upgrade your current Hot 6 or Hot 6 Pro, it’s a more affordable version of the Hot S3X. Also a solid Recommendation if you haven’t gotten an upgrade this year or you’re just looking to try out Infinix.
